Basin sizing guide: width, depth and tap hole choices

Basin size is not just "what looks good on the vanity photo". Width, bowl depth, overflow and tap holes have to work with the cabinet, the mixer and the mirror elevation.

Width and projection

Measure the vanity top clear space and any wall returns. A basin that is too wide crowds taps and bottles; too narrow looks lost on a 1200 mm double vanity. Shop basins, including undermount and semi-recessed types.

Depth and splash

Shallower bowls suit wall spouts and careful users; deeper bowls forgive taller mixers. Check spout reach on your chosen basin mixer (hob, tall or wall).

Tap holes

• No tap hole (NTH) - for wall mixers or separate spout sets.
• 1-3 tap holes - must match the mixer you buy; do not assume.
